Shamia Turlington

She has a clinical background of being a Family Based Therapist for five years utilizing the family system model. In addition to her family-based therapy experience, she has two years of clinical experience with working in a psychiatric facility providing psychoeducation to patients on the detox units, adolescent unit, and psychosis unit through group therapy and individual therapy.
Shamia lives a life based on giving back to those in need through her annual sponsoring of two families of single parents for school shopping as well as sponsoring two families for Christmas. She has an annual birthday feeding homeless event and she participates in other community service projects through her sorority Delta Sigma Theta Inc. Shamia believes that if everyone would provide mental and emotional health support and show empathy, that the world would be a better place.
Since becoming a therapist, Shamia has been strategic and intentional with breaking down the barriers one-by-one surrounding mental health within society while trying to spread love, affirmations, and encouragement with those she encounters.
